Academic misconduct is not the same as poor academic practice. If a piece of work has been identified as poor academic practice your work will be marked accordingly within the assessment criteria, and you should receive feedback on how to improve.
An example of poor academic practice could be
• Bad referencing – you have referenced and cited your work, but not fully using the correct format/system. To avoid this confirm with your tutor the correct system (Harvard or Oxford etc) which should be used or refer to your handbook.
• Over quoting – you have correctly referenced and cited your work but too much of it has been used. Again refer to your handbook or speak to your personal tutor.
If you have any doubts about whether your work has been correctly referenced or cited, speak with your personal tutor, check your handbook or book an appointment to speak with someone in the Learning support team.
Or you can try this website writecheck that for a fee will check your work using the Turnitin system and will be able to give you a report and point out where you would need to make adjustments to your referencing or citations.
