► Disciplinary

If a student commits serious misconduct the matter will be referred to the Appeals, Complaints and Enhancement Office which will deal with the case in accordance with the Student Disciplinary Code. Following their investigation into the matter, if they decide disciplinary action is necessary; the student will be informed of the complaint against them in writing and be offered a preliminary interview with Dr. Malcolm Cross, the Dean of Students.

The purpose of this interview is to try and resolve the complaint at an early stage as the Dean of Students has a discretion to make a summary recommendation. If no resolution can be agreed at this stage a Disciplinary Panel will be convened; this is comprised of three members of the University Staff who hear the allegation and allow the student and the person bringing the complaint to present their cases, before deciding on an outcome.

The Union Support Service can help students facing disciplinary action. Once you have received the letter from the Appeals, Complaints and Enhancement Office or have been told you face disciplinary action come and see an Adviser to talk about your options and we can help you present your case at all stages.
