There are various committees that a representative of the students will sit on to make sure that your voice is heard. Below is a list of the main committees that are attended
Union Councl Members
Union Council meets at least once a term to discuss the work that the Students' Union is doing, to approve work of the Executive Committee and to raise any issues of student concern. It's membership is made up of 21 elected student representatives
Executive Committee
This is a standing commitee of the Union Council and as such is accountable to them. It's primary purpose is to provide strategic management and leadership of the Union. It's membership is made up of the 7 elected School Representation Officers and the 3 Full Time Officers. It meets approximately every two weeks.
Student Staff Liaison Committee
This committee meets at least once a term to discuss any issues that students have brought up with their programme representatives. It is held to make the course management team aware of these concerns and to allow student reprsentatives to give feedback and to comment on matters which may change the development of the course.
University Student Affairs Committee (USAC)
Works to enhance the student experience here at City. It primarily concerns itself with non academic issues although these may arise; if they do that are usually passed on to the Academic Practice, Programmes and Standards Committee (APPSC). Student representatives who attend this committee are the 2 Full Time Officers President and Vice President for Education and the 7 School Representation Officers
Academic Practice, Programmes and Standards Committee (APPSC)
This committee meets to ensure that the University's academic provision is of a high standard and quality and to enhance academic practice. They advise Senate on policy and strategy for teaching and learning developments.
University Council
This is one of the highest level committees that a student representative can sit on, it is attended by the President of the Students' Union. The University's charter and statues define Council as the governing body of the University, it is also the legal personality of the University. It sets the University's strategic direction and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory requirments.
Senate
This committee is attended by all 3 Full Time Officers, the Vice Chancellor and the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University also sit on this committee. It reports to and receives instructions from University Council on all matters relating to the student academic experience.
