APPSC
Is a University Committee that ensures that the University’s academic provision is of a high standard and quality and to enhance academic practice. They advised Senate on policy and strategy for teaching and learning developments and meets at least once a month
CULSA Committee
Is the City University London Sports Association Committee consists of each team captain. They represent the views of the sporting members and work with the Full Time Officers to engage with the University to concerning access to sporting facilities, funding and awareness of the sporting activities that happen within the University
Exec (Full Name Students’ Union Executive Committee)
The Executive Committee is a standing committee of the Union Council and as such is accountable to them. The committee is empowered to act on all matters delegated or referred to it by the Council. Its primary purpose is to provide strategic management and leadership of the Union. Its membership is made up of 7 elected Student Representatives called School Representation Officers and the 3 Full Time Officers. This committee meets every two weeks.
Senate
This is one of the most important committees that a student representative can attend. The Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor sit on this committee among others, plus all of the Sabbatical Officers and at least one undergraduate, postgraduate and research student attend this meeting. It reports to and receives instructions from University Council on all matters relating to the student academic experience at the University.
Students Activities Council
The SAC consists of one student representative of each club, society and other development groups for example R.A.G. This council is a forum where feedback and issues regarding all aspects of Student Activities get discussed.
Student Affairs Committee (SAC)
Works to enhance the student experience here at City. It primarily concerns its self with non academic issues although these may arise; if they do they are usually passed on the Academic Practice, Programmes and Standards Committee (APPSC)
Students Union Council
Union Council Members are elected to represent the views of students to the Executive Committee and to make recommendations regarding the work of the Students' Union.
Union Council meets at least once a term to discuss the work that the SU is doing, to approve work of the Executive Committee and to raise any issues of student concern. Its membership is made up of 21 elected student representatives.
University Council
This is the highest committee that a Student Representative can sit on, it is attended by the President of the Union
‘The Council is ultimately responsible for the affairs of the University. It sets its strategic direction; ensures the effective management and control of its affairs, property and finances; determines the structure, staffing and overall composition of the University; and appoint the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor and Deputy Pro-Chancellor.
The University’s Charter and Statutes define Council as the governing body of the University. The Council is also the legal personality of the University. It sets the University’s strategic direction and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.’ (City University website)
Minutes for these meetings are available on the City University website. It meets every 2 months.
