Tuition fees
The union believes education is not for sale and that;
That post 16 education in the UK is increasingly geared towards the market, with costs transferred onto students and their families and quality and choice sacrificed to “efficiency” and the demands of the Business.
That the introduction of variable top up fees in 2006 represented a major step forward in the process of marketisation.
The commodification of higher education is a reactionary process that disproportionately affects the educational aspects of students from poorer backgrounds, reinforcing society’s class division.
Is against the lifting of the tuition fee cap.
