Amnesty International was founded on the belief in the power of ordinary people to make extraordinary change. With 22 million members worldwide, Amnesty is a charity with an incomparable amount of persuasion, influence and passion with regard to human rights. The City University Amnesty Group is a way for students to become part of the change. We work to educate and inform others of what human rights are and where they are violated, both at home and abroad. We also organise activities and events to raise money to help stop and prevent these violations from continuing. We are looking for people who are passionate and enthusiastic about human right to help us with our aim.
Whilst we collectively choose a project and main event to focus on, any member can use Amnesty to organise their own human rights venture. If there is a particular cause that you want to raise awareness for, the student action network will help you to do so. So if you want to be part of the solution or just learn more about us and human rights email us at calsamnestygroup@gmail.com and come along to a meeting to talk to us.

Al Alvarez once said, "Serious poker is no more about gambling than rock climbing is about risk taking".
Over the last century, poker has evolved from a game of chance to a sport involving maths, psychology and physical endurance. As the official poker society of City University London, CUPS aims to dispel the age-old notion that poker is a game of pure gambling. We strongly advocate the analytical and statistical elements of the game.
Our activities include the following,
1) Weekly Poker tournaments
2) Poker talks and lectures
3) Social events
Through the league system, CUPS hopes to successfully build a team of players to represent the university in inter-varsity competitions.
