The Students' Union represents every single student who comes to our university. Not only does the SU represent them - it is them - it is run by students for students.
The Union has 3 elected officers who have the responsibility for collecting feedback from the entire student body. and leading the political direction of the Union. They liase with the University to tell them your views as well as conducting similar work with other stakeholders . Each officer haso a specific area which they responsible.

There are also the Executive Committee and the Union Council members who help with political steering of the Union. Students who sit on these committees are elected.
Decisions are made democratically, at evey level from the elected officers, to the officers of all the societies and clubs. Every position is democratically elected. Through committees students can influence the working of their Union and also ensure that their views are heard across the University.
At course level, your ideas and opinions can be represented through Programme Representatives, trained by the Students' Union, who are you first port of call on course related matters.
The work of the Students' Union is overseen and scrutinised by a Trustee Board, as required by the Charity Commission.
Every student registered at the University is automatically a member of the Students' Union. Students do have the right to opt out of membership if they so choose. As a Student Union member, you have the right to stand for election if you are interested in representing your fellow students.
The Union is run according to its Constitution which is agreed by the Trustee Board of the Union and University Council (as required by the Education Act (1994).
