Students' Union Awards Evening:

Monday 3rd March, 6pm, in the Great Hall (reception to follow in CityBar)

Group or Project Awards:

Society of the Year Award

This Award recognises the most outstanding achievement by a society that has showed exemplary activity, creativity, and dedication to the improvement of the student community at City, University of London this academic year. The winning society will have raised the bar, surpassed expectations, and become a shining example of everything a good society can be. This top tier award has a long tradition at the Students’ Union and is extremely highly regarded.

Most Improved Society Award

This award recognises a pre-established society that has significantly improved and developed during the current academic year. This award is for societies who have raised the bar with their activities, engaged more students at City, University of London and grown significantly in quality, through the hard work and dedication of the student volunteers leading the group.

Best New Society Award

This Award recognises the outstanding achievement of a new society that has successfully started during the current academic year, and showed strong commitment to their development and future, exhibiting a high quality of planning and activity, through the.

Student-Led Event of the Year Award

This award will be given to recognise a successful student-led event held at City, University of London which was innovative, community-building, ambitious, highly successful in its aims, or significantly raised awareness of a relevant topic or culture. To qualify, the event must be within 2014-15 academic year, and held on a City campus. The primary organiser(s) of the event must be a City student or group of students.

Best Contribution to Charitable Fundraising Award

This award is for the project, event, or campaign that has had the most successful impact towards charity fundraising or the charity fundraising (Raising And Giving) community on campus. From raising significant amounts of money for a charitable cause, to developing a project with local community members, or embodying creativity, positivity, efficiency, and best practice for community-based charity fundraising.

Sustainability Project Award

This award is for an excellent or exemplary project, group, event, or campaign led by City, University of London students which has had at least one objective related to improving environmental sustainability. There are many different types of project which could fall into this category, including one-off events, campaigns and lobbying efforts, society activities, RAG projects, or student enterprises.

Individual Student Awards:

Student Leader of the Year Award

This top tier award will recognise a student who has demonstrated a significant and outstanding contribution this year towards building of the student community at City, University of London. Their voluntary efforts could have been through a student society, elected posts, RAG, Freshers Week, the Union Support Service, City Volunteering, or any other co-curricular opportunity located at City, University of London. This award is one of the most prestigious accolades with which City Students’ Union recognises an individual student.

Society Committee Member of the Year Award

This award seeks to recognise the outstanding achievements of an individual committee member of a City Students’ Union society and their high levels of dedication and commitment to that group. They will have been indispensable in ensuring that their society has success and quality this year.

Community Impact Award

This award will be given to recognise a student who has demonstrated dedication and care by proactively using their time and energy to support local, national, or international community causes. They may have volunteered at a local school or charity, or they may have organised a project which has had a clear positive impact for people outside of the university. This student will be an inspiration to others to volunteer and to do great works, despite an increasingly competitive and individualistic world.

City Students’ Union Colours:

[Multiple Award Certificates] These honourable mentions can be awarded to any number of individual City students who have gone beyond the call of duty in support of Students’ Union projects this year. The proactive students who are recognised are the bedrock of the Students' Union's success as a member-led organisation:

Bronze Colours: Represents exemplary work as a Students’ Union volunteer, whether through societies, RAG, Programme Representatives, elected posts, or other Students’ Union projects.

Silver Colours: Represents passionate, highly commended work as a Students’ Union volunteer, usually on multiple Students’ Union projects.

Gold Colours: Represent sustained achievement and exemplary dedication as a Students’ Union volunteer, usually in several different areas of Students’ Union community activity.
